Frequently Asked Questions

Which type of accreditation does Patten have?

Patten is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). WASC is a regional accrediting agency that covers institutions based in California such as Stanford University and the University of California, Berkeley.

For more information about accreditation, you can schedule a call with one of our Enrollment Advisors.

How is Patten so affordable?
  • Our programs are online.
  • Our faculty is paid to work with students — not to do research.
  • We elected not to participate in the federal student loan program, and thus don’t have overhead costs to administer it.
How long would it take for me to earn my degree?

This depends on how many credits you transfer in and how many courses you complete per term. Our Enrollment Advisors can provide an estimate based on your specific situation.

How soon can I start?

Terms start each Monday, subject to capacity. To check availability for a specific date, schedule a call with an Enrollment Advisor.

Can I test out of courses?

You can “challenge” any course at any time by taking a final exam and completing a project. Note that our tuition is a flat fee, and includes as many courses as you can take.

To learn more about “challenge” mode, schedule a call with one of our Enrollment Advisors.

Can I transfer credits to Patten?

Generally speaking, yes. Our Registrar will evaluate your credits free of charge. To start the transfer credit evaluation process, schedule a call with one of our Enrollment Advisors.
